PASIFIC 2nd Scientific Community Networking Event

On 12 June, the second  “PASIFIC Networking with Scientific Community” event took place at the Staszic Palace in Warsaw. “Interdisciplinarity in scientific research” was the theme of the meeting, which brought together dozens of researchers from various scientific institutions. Scholars, the Polish Young Academy (AMU) representatives and other invited guests took part in three scientific sessions and a panel discussion.

The Life Sciences session, chaired by the PASIFIC Fellow, Dr Monika Hejna, Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology, PAS, gathered 8 speakers:

The Physics and Engineering session, chaired by Dr hab Paweł Malinowski, Institute of Fluid Flow Machinery PAS, gathered 8 speakers:

The Social Sciences and Humanities session, chaired by the PASIFIC Fellow Dr Imran Sarihasan, Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, PAS, gathered 7 speakers:

Informative sessions were followed by fruitful discussions, and then a general panel discussion “Interdisciplinarity in scientific research” hosted by Professor Marzena Smol, Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute, PAS and Dr hab Pawel Malinowski, Institute of Fluid Flow Machinery, PAS,  both representing the Polish Young Academy.

The panelists included Dr Magdalena Mazurek-Budzyńska, Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Chemistry; Dr Joanna Ciesielska, University of Warsaw, Dr hab Marta Jackowska, SWPS University, and Dr Mitrajit Ghosh, Institut für Molekulare Medizin II, Dusseldorf (former: Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, PAS), PASIFIC Fellow.

Participants found the meeting to be a very good networking opportunity. They appreciated the friendly atmosphere and called for more interdisciplinarity. We hope to fulfil this wish when organizing future networking events.
