Academy Smart Talks – Welcome to the World of Knowledge

First Academy Smart Talks, the event for everyone interested in science, is now over.

Organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences within the PASIFIC Programme, it took place on the 26th of October 2023 at the Museum of the Earth in Warsaw.

The main idea of the event was to inspire young people to choose a scientific career path – to broaden their horizons, develop new passions, and explore the world of knowledge.

In the lower large room of Pniewski Villa, 7 PASIFIC fellows – Monika Chwalczuk, Syed Ahmed Shah, Ewa Poniecka, Olha Tikhonova, Imran Sarihasan, Maciej Bartosiewicz and Shumaila Razzaque – discussed numerous questions in the form of short dialogues: when and why they decided to become scientists; why their work was important; what were the key questions to be answered in their research; what were the challenges of their work, etc.

Driven by curiosity, young audience asked lots of questions about how fellows’ discoveries could influence everyday life. During the networking, young people used the opportunity to have individual discussions with the researchers.

The event took place in a relaxed atmosphere. It was an encouraging experience both for the PASIFIC fellows and young guests.

We hope that another similar event will take place soon.
