Call 2 of the PASIFIC Programme is closed!

On 30 December 2021, the 2 Call under the PASIFIC Programme was closed, the submission deadline passed at 11:59 PM CET. The next stage now begins – the evaluation process. Independent experts will choose 15 researchers who will be realizing their research projects in the Polish Academy of Sciences in the following years!

In the 2 Call, we received 200 applications from researchers of 50 nationalities. In sum, 73 women (more than 1/3 of all candidates) and 126 men submitted their proposals.

The proposals were submitted in 3 areas of research – 51 in Life Sciences, 71 in Social Sciences and Humanities, and 78 in Physical Sciences and Engineering.

In total, applications covered 25 disciplines. The highest number of applications – 16 – was submitted in Earth System Science, Environmental Biology, Ecology and Evolution, and The Study of the Human Past.

Applications were submitted with 53 PAS Institutes, the biggest number  – 19 – with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. Numerous researchers would also like to conduct their research in Institute of Physical Chemistry (13), Institute of Economics (8), Institute of Geological Sciences (7), and Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History, PAS (7)

As a result of the evaluation process, 15 PASIFIC Fellows will receive a research budget of up to EUR 60 000 for direct costs at their disposal. Moreover, they will be granted a monthly salary of approximately EUR 2500 net. Apart from that, the candidates who come to Poland with their kids or spouse will be entitled to an additional family allowance.
