Men, masculinities, and agriculture: a gendered approach to environmental degradation in the global South Social Sciences and Humanities
navjotpal.kaur@ifispan.edu.pl
Do particular cultural values (e.g., notions of masculinities, femininities or gender relations) become barriers or facilitators to pro-environmental knowledge and action?
Specific empirical questions addressed in this project include a qualitative study of local constructions of rural agrarian masculinities, gender relations, and agriculture-related environmental degradation. Following an intersectional approach, this study will focus on the ways in which agriculture can be more equitable and sustainable by centralizing men and masculinities of the farming community.
