The First Advisory Board Meeting

Fifty talented scientists from abroad will be selected to come to Poland to carry out their research at institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Recruitment procedures will start in 2021, but preparations are already in full swing. The first consultations with top-notch scientists, who have shared their experiences and insights with the Academy, have already been held.

The PASIFIC Advisory Board meeting was held (online) on June 16, 2020. It was attended by the following individuals:

  • Prof. Paweł Rowiński, Vice-President of the Academy, Project Coordinator,
  • Prof. Michael Giersig (Free University of Berlin), Prof. Michał Misiurewicz (Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis), Prof. Jerzy Paszkowski (University of Cambridge), Prof. Barbara Romanowicz (University of California, Berkeley), Prof. Oliver Jens Schmitt (Austrian Academy of Sciences, University of Vienna),
  • Representatives of the Excellence in Science Department, PASIFIC Leaders.

Participants discussed promotional strategies and the application evaluation procedures. We would like to express our gratitude to the experts for their valuable and inspiring suggestions.

About the fellowship programme

PASIFIC (Polish Academy of Sciences’ Individual Fellowships: Innovation & Creativity) is a new fellowship program at the Polish Academy of Sciences. It is co-financed by the European Union MSCA COFUND Programme and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

It will provide 50 scientists of any nationality with an opportunity to gain two years of research experience at one of the institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), including the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology.

We will recruit first fellows in 2021. Fellows will be offered a monthly allowance of approx €2 500. PASIFIC will also provide a budget for research up to €93 000 per project.
