The PASIFIC Programme fellows, their families and members of the PASIFIC team gathered together for the third time at PASIFIC Summer Networking Event. The one-day picnic style event took place on 30 June 2023 at PAS Botanical Garden in Powsin.

Discovering the garden

The event was opened by the PASIFIC Project Coordinator, Professor Paweł Rowiński,  the Director of PAS Botanical Garden, Professor Arkadiusz Nowak and Project Manager of the PASIFIC Programme Bogna Hryniszyn.

After a welcome coffee at the garden glade, participants guided by Professor Arkadiusz Nowak went for the first walk tour to the herbal garden and discovered collection of medicinal plants and herbs. At this atmospheric, folk-style herbal and vegetable corner they had a chance to taste some unusual herbs and learn about polish natural medicine. While walking along shady beech alley of Maria Skłodowska-Curie Avenue, PASIFIC fellows could learn about the history of the garden. Upon arriving back to the garden glade the lunch was served.

Second walk tour to the orchard collection of fruit trees and rare vegetables led Anna Znój, Director of Utility Plants Collection. Again it was time full of admiration with blooming nature and tasting ripe fruits of mulberry, black currants and raspberries. The visit to the sensory gardens, with whispering grasses and sculptures was relaxing experience and a good opportunity for photo shoots. Last guided walk through the National Collection of Roses finished with evening coffee.

Fellows & Friends

The meeting provided Fellows and their families not only with an opportunity to discover beauty of PAS Botanical Garden and enjoy its nature. Once again it was also occasion to share experiences and knowledge on conducting research at PAS Institutes, having time to connect and catch up with another in a relaxed atmosphere.
